Salaries and Benefits of Amnesty International Ireland employees

In line with its commitment to maximum possible transparency, Amnesty International annually publishes information about salary bands paid to its office based staff on this website, along with information about the general employment benefits for the section's office staff.

 

The following is a breakdown of our salary bands as of January 2015:

The organisation agreed significant reductions in pay with all staff in late 2013. The pay cuts were applied throughout 2014. The organisation has commenced a partial pay restoration on the 1st of January 2015. As of January 2016, salary levels have been fully restored. For staff who are part time, the salary reported is the full time equivalent.

  • €62,001-72,000   Previously two staff members were employed within this salary band, currently there are none

The National Board of Amnesty International Ireland is our membership elected governance body. Members of the board serve in an entirely voluntary capacity and do not receive any pay or remuneration. 

In line with a motion passed at Annual Conference 2012, it was agreed to publish the general employment benefits to which staff working in Amnesty International Ireland's office are entitled. Information on salary bands was also published as a result of the same motion.

 

The following are the general employment benefits of office staff as of March 2013:

  • 20 days of Annual Leave plus 5 office closure days;
  • After 5 years of service, or if on top of salary scale, staff receive an additional day of Annual Leave each year, up to a maximum of 10 additional days;
  • All staff progress annually by one increment within their salary scale, up to a maximum of 9 increments;
  • Contributory pension (staff contribution 5%, organisation's contribution 6%);
  • Income protection;
  • Death in service (4 times annual salary);
  • Paid sick leave: 13 weeks full pay less state benefits, 13 weeks half pay less state benefits;
  • Maternity leave pay: 13 weeks full pay less state benefits, 13 weeks half pay less state benefits;
  • 10 days of paid Paternity Leave.
